New Services in Nigeria
Nigeria's Blessed Services
Currently performing a great service in Nigeria is Father Jacoub from Kenya. This past weekend was truly blessed. On Saturday, December 19th, a Spiritual Day was held for servants regarding a servant's character, duties, and discipleship. The following Sunday, 120 people were baptized to the Lord. Father Jacoub is presently serving in 4 churches:
1. St. Mark, Lagos - There are now Copts living on the premises. Father Jacoub visits once per month for Bible Study and to pray the Divine Liturgy.
2. St George, Calabar City - Serves the Copts and Africans living within the city itself. Bible study meetings and Liturgies are performed during the weekdays.
3. St Mary, Akansco - Serves the Africans residing in rural areas. The following services are held:
⁃ Sunday - Liturgies and meetings from 9-12 PM.
⁃ Tuesday - Bible study from 4-5 PM.
⁃ Thursday - Fasting and prayers from 8 AM - 12 PM.
4. St Mark, Ikot Asuquo Edem - The following services are held:
⁃ Tuesday - Bible study from 4-5 PM.
⁃ Wednesday - Catechumen Class from 4-5 PM.
⁃ Friday - Fasting and Divine Liturgy
We give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ as He brings more Nigerians everyday to the Coptic Church. We are overjoyed that they are attracted to our faith, doctrines, sacraments and spirituality. We pray for Father Jacoub, Deacon Mena, his helper, and the Nigerian Church.
