Ministries by Age Group

“People are singing and dancing, drums are playing, everyone is clapping and rejoicing, the church is literally shaking . . . I have never seen or experienced such life and joy during prayer, as I have experienced in Africa.” ~Testimony of a Servant from Canada

Similar to other cultures around the world, many unhealthy practices have crept into some African areas. These practices can be damaging physically and spiritually, including polygamy, domestic abuse and alcoholism. As people grow in their Christian faith, they come to realize how valuable they are in God’s eyes and learn that their bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit. Experiences with Christ are leading many to abandon their unhealthy habits and embrace Christian behavior.

The church recognizes its role in meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of each member. A natural consequence of helping people to wholeness is alleviating self-destructive behavior and encouraging empowerment, strength and hope. The church provides spiritual meetings for each age group that are intended to address specific needs in order to strengthen individuals and ultimately, the entire society.

Adult Ministry

Parents
Parents are the spiritual backbone of any home. They not only provide the emotional support and physical safety for their children to grow, but also provide the spiritual foundation for their children’s future spiritual growth. The Coptic Church plays a role in touching the lives of many families by catering to the pertinent spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the parents. Each week, married couples, single parents and guardians meet to share the word of God and address family issues and matters of daily living. Couples are also taught the principles of maintaining a healthy marriage according to the Bible.

Spiritual Days
The church organizes spiritual days every few weeks for the meeting members to enjoy a day of fun and educational activities, bible sharing and fellowship with each other. One member describes these meetings as the “highlight” of her week saying, “I don’t think I would be able to get through the struggles without the support of the rest of the group. Everyday I thank God for this meeting, and for the church.”

Fellowship Meetings The Coptic Church encourages the involvement of all the members. The more As people become more invested in their church, they develop a deeper sense of belonging. To cater to this need, the church has established small group meetings at the members' homes and spiritual visits for church members to visit each other, share the word of God and pray for the challenges facing them. These fellowship meetings have truly brought individuals together and united the church.

Youth & Children Ministry

Weekly Meetings
As for the youth & children, the church works in conjunction with the family to provide bible teachings and spiritual support needed for these in order to equip children to grow spiritually and make wise decisions throughout their lives. The church accomplishes these goals through weekly meetings for kids of different age groups. Sunday School is provided for all children younger than nine years. Secondary class is held for kids between ten and fifteen years. old and Youth class for sixteen and up. As well as the Bible and church teachings, the kids are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as coloring, crafts, drama, singing in the choir and sports. All these activities have an important effect on building a well-balanced and self-motivated Christian growing in today’s society which is full of pressure, cultural change, and disease.

Visitations
For the young kids, their teachers visit them in their homes and read the Bible with them and really encourage them in their spiritual journey.

Activities
When the schools are closed during vacation times, the church leaders have designed a more interactive schedule where all the kids have the chance to come to church and share in different activities according to their age, hobbies and talents. Usually there are sports competitions, drama and choir competitions, movie days and trips. Also, we use the kids' vacation time as an opportunity to bring in outside speakers for day-long conferences to address different needs. In fact, some speakers are trained counselors, doctors, and other professionals who specialize in child and family services.

Retreats and Conferences
Retreats are more intimate gatherings held by each church that last three days for which different age groups (children and youth) may attend.

At least once a year the church holds a national youth conference which is attended by over a hundred and twenty youth. The speakers come to us from different parts of the world and are specialized in youth ministry.
