Are You Praying For Victory?
Are You Praying For Victory?
“In all these we are more than conquerors in Jesus who loved us” Romans 8:37
According to the early fathers we are more than conquerors in Jesus. Therefore, does praying for victory mean we are in a position of defeat, as if we have thrown away our steadfast position of victory? Should we stop praying for victory when we are down or weak? Surely, the answer is no, but instead our prayers should be mixed with praises and thanksgiving for the gift of victory that Jesus has given us.
Have you experienced defeat? Do you wish to be strong enough to always be victorious? Then you must remember the prayer of St. Paul in Ephesus: May the eyes of your heart be opened to discover that you are sitting with Jesus in heaven and He Himself is sitting above every power (Eph 1:21, Eph 2:6).
Remember that difficulties, problems and hardships around you will never end or change. We are told that as Christians we will face many tribulations in this world. The lion will continue to roar and shout fearfully and loudly, yet you should be confident that you will be victorious over him, since you are already in Christ more than a conqueror in the battle.
